Friday, December 15, 2017, witnessed an epic struggle between third and fourth grade Willie Brown Elementary students. The prize in the battle? The 2017 Willie Brown Elementary Spelling Bee crown and the opportunity to represent WBE at the district spelling bee. Although there were 22 spelling warriors on the field of battle (also known as the Willie Brown cafeteria stage), only one could ultimately claim the crown. After many words had been spelled over 11 grueling rounds of competition, third grader Tej Marimuthu was the last speller standing. Fellow third grader Daniel Nwoha came close as our runner-up. Should Tej be unable to represent Willie Brown at the 2018 MISD Spelling Bee, Daniel would compete for our campus. Congratulations to all of our spellers!
