Willie Brown's third graders got to experience voting for themselves. The entire third grade participated in a grade level wide vote. They visited the voting booth, showed their identification and voted on important third grade issues. Some of the items on the ballot included whether or not the cafeteria should only serve garlic flavored ice cream and if recess should be replaced with 20 minutes of sit-ups and push-ups. When the votes were tallied, garlic flavored ice cream and sit-ups did not win the majority of the votes. What a fun way to work toward MISD's Vision 2030.
